Spells are one of the core elements of the game Mages of Mystralia and players will control Zia, who was exiled for her magical abilities. On her journey through the world of Mystralia, she'll discover new spells and meet other mages.

Spells have three key components: the Focus, the Essence, and supporting Runes.

Focus[edit | edit source]

Immedi[edit | edit source]

<Fire>Immedi ic.png Allows for instantaneous spells, such as slashes and explosions.Basic Immedi spells infuse a wand or area with a short-lived burst of energy. Immedi, or "melee", spells are easy to use, with notable runes including Detonate.

Actus[edit | edit source]

Actus ic.png Allows for spells with conditional durations, such as mines and projectiles.

Basic Actus spells summon stationary orbs of an element. Actus, or "active", spells are incredibly flexible with a large pool of compatible runes, often including Move and Homing.

Creo[edit | edit source]

Creo ic.png Allows for spells with a durable effect, such as ice bridges and fire walls.

Basic Creo spells lay a small patch of an element at one's feet. Creo, or "create", spells alter the very landscape that mages walk upon, carving literal new paths with Move.

Ego[edit | edit source]

Ego ic.png Allows for spells affecting one's self, such as shields and fast movement.

Basic Ego spells provide a durable, front-facing shield. Ego, or "self", spells have great utility with Move or Duplicate, and make a strong foundation for triggering other spells.

Essence[edit | edit source]

Aura[edit | edit source]

Harnessing the power of electricity, Aura spells activate the yellow star switches found throughout Mystralia.

When Greyleaf is burning down and Zia helped all the citizen escape, Tao gives her the key to the mineshaft. Proceed through the mineshaft and meet Blasius the Sage of Aura. He'll give you the power to change all Spells to Aura Element.

Igni[edit | edit source]

With a thought and a spark, Igni spells light the torches on Zia's journey.

After defeating the Final Boss in the Lava Grotto Zia meets Flavius, the Sage of Igni. He gives Zia the Essence of Igni.

Aqua[edit | edit source]

Using the elements of cold and ice, Aqua spells bridge bodies of water through a Creo focus.

After defeating the Final Boss at the Sunken Query Zia meets Caelius, the Sage of Aqua. He gives Zia the Essence of Aqua.

Gaea[edit | edit source]

Acting through the earth and nature, Gaea spells protect Zia from hostile elements.

After defeating the Final Boss in the Old Mines Zia meets Drusus, the Sage of Gaea. He gives Zia the Essence of Gaea.

Runes[edit | edit source]

Main article: Runes

While spells can function with just a Focus and Essence, Runes separate the legendary mages from the novices. Experienced mages use their creativity and wit to adapt to any situation.

Spellcrafting[edit | edit source]

These are just some basic spells discovered by playing the game. There should be much more possibilities. It is possibly to clear the game 100% with those but feel free to add spellvariantions anytime.

Mastery Rune[edit | edit source]

It can be attached to each spell to add burning, chain attack, freezing, knockback effects.

  • Basic Slash: Immedi without attaching any Runes [Aura]
  • Overcharged Slash: Creo + Overcharge [Aura]

Ice/Fire Ray[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Ray: Immedi without attaching any runes [Aqua]

Detonation Blow[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Blow: Creo + Detonate + Overcharge (linkt to the Detonate Rune) [All Elements]

  • Basic Mine: Immedi without attaching any Runes [Igni]

Fireball, Rock / Ice / Electric Bullet[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Bullet: Actus + Move [All Elements]
  • Homing Bullet: Actus + Move + Homing [All Elements]
  • Right Bullet: Actus + Move + Right (attached to Move Rune) [All Elements]
  • Detonation Bullet: Actus + Move + Homing + Impact (Detonation Blow) [All Elements]
  • Bouncing Bullet: Actus + Move + Bounce [All Elements]
  • Multiple Bullet: Actus + Move + Duplicate [All Elements]
  • Multiple Bullet - Directional: Actus + Move + Duplicate + Right/Left [All Elements]
  • Rain Bullet: Actus + Move + Rain [All Elements]
  • Meteorite/Rain Bullet Impact: Actus + Move + Rain + Impact [All Elements]

"Chaos Storm"—See Frost Chain

A set of chained spells that can destroy entire packs of enemies with a single cast.

  • The spell consists of 4 separate spells being cast one after another
    • Igni: AtOnce -> Aqua: AtOnce -> Aura: AtOnce -> Grea: AtOnce -> Igni... (repeat)
    • Due to how triggering works, the first spell will be cast twice, the others only once
  • Runes Required
    • Duplicate, Mastery, Move, Homing, AtOnce or Impact (AtOnce is better), Random
    • Random is needed so that the spell can be cast more than once with 100% mana pool—greatly reduces cost
  • Optional Runes
    • Time, bounce
    • Bounce increases the number of times a single missile can hit
  • Each casting of the spell fires 3x5 = 15 missiles
  • It is important that all elements are represented, as this guarantees a mixture of damage and control.

  • Basic Bridge: Creo without attaching any Runes (just one plate) [Aqua, Grea]
  • Long Bridge: Creo + Move Rune [Aqua, Grea]
  • High Bridge: Crea + Move + Size (directly linked to the Element) [Grea]

Whirlwind[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Whirlwind: Creo without attaching any rune [Aura]
  • Moving Whirlwind: Creo + Move Rune [Aura]

Rain[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Rain: Creao + Rain [All Elements]

Ego[edit | edit source]

Shield[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Shield: Ego without attaching any Runes [All Elements]

Dash[edit | edit source]

  • Dash Forward: Ego + Move Rune [All Elements]
  • Homing Dash: Ego + Move Rune + Homing Rune (attached to Move Rune) [All Elements]
  • Dash Backward: Ego + Inverse [All Elements]

Firering Decoy[edit | edit source]

  • Basic Fire Decoy: Ego + Duplicate + At Once + Bullet
  • Turning Fire Decoy: Ego + Duplicate + Move + Right/Left/Inverse + Periodic (Bullet)
